EXPANDING ITS NORTHERN VIRGINIA FOOTPRINT

Aligned Data Centers has just announced that it plans to develop a second hyperscale data center campus located in Sterling, Northern Virginia.

The new 10-acre, carrier-neutral, hyperscale campus is designed to feature two data center buildings, planned to deliver 72MW and 430,000 square feet of data center capacity across four floors when fully developed.

“Speed-to-market, scalability and sustainability have long been considered ground zero for hyperscale customers, and Aligned’s unmatched ability to successfully navigate strategic site selection challenges such as power and land constraints, supply chain issues, and energy efficiency and sustainability requirements is critical to meeting these needs, ” said Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned.

“Our team is laser-focused on eliminating the risks and cost exposures associated with new builds, and with our advanced supply chain methodology and experienced global partners, Aligned can deliver infrastructure anywhere an organization’s business growth demands, providing incrementally scalable data center capacity — aligned with our customers’ designs or ours — in unprecedented timeframes.”

Codenamed IAD-03, Aligned plans to deliver the first phase of its Northern Virginia data center campus in the fall of 2023.

In May, Aligned announced the opening of its new hyperscale data center in Chicago, having completed the first-phase of the facility. Codenamed Aligned ORD-01, this data center facility spans 220,000 square-foot, and expected to deliver 48MW of IT power capacity upon full build. Expandable to about 60MW, ORD-01 is the flagship data center on Aligned’s 18.5 acre Chicagoland campus.

Also recently, Aligned announced the expansion of its Phoenix footprint with the planned development of a new data center in Arizona. Codenamed PHX-05, the new data center will be the fourth on the company’s flagship hyperscale campus in Arizona.

In March, Aligned announced the first-phase completion of its latest data center in the Salt Lake Metro Area, Utah. Codenamed SLC-04, this waterless data center is a multi-megawatt facility which is among approximately 270MW of Aligned planned new data center development in 2022.
