ALSO EXPANDING ORACLE CLOUD FOOTPRINT

Edge data center provider EdgeConneX, has announced the opening of its 33rd data center SCL01, located in Santiago, Chile.

As a member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), EdgeConneX is further expanding the footprints of Oracle Cloud by offering dedicated and private access to Oracle Cloud through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect which is available at the new 7MW EdgeConneX data center in Santiago, Chile.

“We are thrilled to further extend our Edge footprint in Latin America with the addition of our newest data center in Santiago, a historically underserved data center market of the world,” said Phillip Marangella, Chief Marketing Officer at EdgeConneX.

“As a result, our service provider customers like Oracle can extend their solutions locally to enterprises and organizations that will gain access to low-latency connectivity and content delivery, as well as the finest private cloud services available. We are looking forward to be a part of Santiago’s current and future growth in the region’s digital economy.”

As an anchor tenant at SCL01, Oracle Cloud will provide its enterprise cloud services which offers compute and networking capabilities as well as a suite of infrastructure and platform cloud services that cut across application development, business analytics, data management, integration, security, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain.

“Customers require seamless connectivity from their data centers and networks to Oracle Cloud for their most demanding workloads and applications. With the FastConnect Service, customers can provision the dedicated and private connections they need today and easily scale with their growing business demands,” said Ross Brown, vice president product management, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

This announcement was also welcomed by the country’s government with Lucas Palacios, The Economy Minister for the Government of Chile saying: “We welcome the arrival of EdgeConneX in Chile. Our country needs investment that focuses on technology, innovation and the sophistication of human capital that will make us more competitive in the region, and the world.”

The company further announced that it plans to develop a second facility in Chile SCL02, to meet rising demands in the region.
