LOOKING TOWARDS A GREEN FOOTPRINT

Middle East and North Africa data center provider, Khazna Data Centers, has announced the formation of a new joint venture with BEEAH Digital, to develop a new Tier 3 data center in Sharjah, the third-most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As designed, the new data center is expected to deliver 9MW load capacity and feature multiple power and cooling pathways. To minimize emissions and achieve green building certifications from Estidama and LEED, Khazna and BEEAH plan to power the facility with solar energy and a portion of the energy output from BEEAH Group’s 30MW waste-to-energy plant in Sharjah.

“Data centres are cornerstones in enabling innovation and driving growth for businesses across a variety of sectors. They are also creating digital opportunities and seamless connections as businesses continue to develop and scale their operations,” said Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centers.

“At Khazna Data Centers, we are focused on further investments in building the infrastructure in UAE to enable our existing and new customers in Sharjah, specifically to launch their services closer to their consumers. The data center will be well-positioned to support businesses in enhancing the experiences of their customers, unlocking the value of technologies, and making headway on their carbon footprint reduction goals by meeting their environmental and sustainability needs.”

Established as One Data Center SPV Limited, the new joint venture will operate under the name of Khazna Data Centers, and expected to support the digital transformation needs of Sharjah Government as well as serve organizations across the UAE.

“Keeping communities connected and providing ready access to digital services is essential for a good quality of life. With a Tier 3 data centre, we can enhance the available infrastructure to government entities as well as private companies. The advanced IT infrastructure will help boost investments, attract business and bring world-class services and data sovereignty for the wider public,” said Khaled Al Huraimel, Vice Chairman and Group CEO, BEEAH Group.

In April, Khazna Data Centers also announced the construction of its second data center in Masdar, Abu Dhabi. Codenamed Khazna Abu Dhabi 6 (or AUH 6), the data center facility is designed to offer 31.8MW (approx. 32MW) of IT power capacity upon full build, which will be developed using modular architectures.
