PART OF ITS £500M UK EXPANSION PLAN

NTT Ltd.’s Global Data Centers division has announced a new UK data center project in Hemel Hempstead, which is about 24 miles northwest of London.

According to NTT, Hemel Hempstead 4 Data Center project is part of its £500 million expansion plan in the UK market. The new facility will join the company’s other UK expansion project such as London 1, which is expected to open this autumn 2020. Upon completion of NTT’s current UK expansion projects alongside its five existing data centers in Hemel Hempstead and Slough, the company expects to have a total of over 100MW capacity in its UK portfolio.

Hemel Hempstead 4 Data Center which is already under construction, will be connected to NTT’s multi service interconnection platform, providing access to multiple carriers and major cloud providers. The facility will also be directly interconnected to the other NTT data center locations in Hemel Hempstead, Slough and Dagenham in East London.

Once fully built out, the new Hemel Hempstead data center will have 9,600 square meters of available data center space and will support 24MW of IT load. As announced, the opening of the first phase is scheduled for Q4 2021.

This current UK expansion is part of NTT’s growth strategy which aims at making its Global Data Centers division operate the third-largest data center platform in the world, now having a global combined portfolio of about 160 data centers spanning more than 20 countries and regions.
