FOLLOWING THE OPENING OF ITS 9TH FACILITY LAST MONTH

Edge colocation data center provider, Proximity Data Centres, has just announced the opening of its tenth data center facility in the UK.

Located in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, the new facility is named Proximity Milton Keynes Edge 10, a Tier III data center that spans 48,000 square feet with multiple data halls that provides 3MW of total available power.

“Proximity Milton Keynes Edge 10 is ideally located for the many businesses in Central England looking for secure, scalable colocation services combined with high speed low latency connectivity to meet the needs of increasingly demanding users and applications. The region also has a rapidly expanding technology sector and Edge 10 is ideally positioned to support this important market,” said John Hall, Managing Director, Colocation at Proximity Data Centres.

“Edge 10 is an important milestone for Proximity as we are now well on the way to establishing a truly UK-wide edge data centre footprint capable of reaching 95% of the population. We plan to have a further ten sites available within the next 12 to 18 months.”

Located on a 3.2 acre site, the new facility promises low latency connectivity via multiple tier 1 carrier connections including dark fibers with diverse links, enabling the delivery of the company’s edge data center services to Central England.

The opening of Proximity Milton Keynes Edge 10 is coming just about a month after the launch of Proximity Edge 9 which is located in Bristol, England. This is also a Tier III colocation data center that is built on a 3.4 acre site with 90,000 square feet of space, expected to deliver 4MW of IT capacity including 1MW of white space which is immediately available.

Proximity Data Centres’s 8th UK edge facility was opened in January. Located in Birmingham, the data center is designed to deliver 12MW of total power capacity but currently offers 6MW, spanning about 63,055 square feet and having the capacity to accommodate up to 2000 racks across three separate data halls.
