OVHcloud has just announced it is collaborating with IBM and Atempo to develop a Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering, dedicated to meet European enterprise and public institution security, sovereignty and resilience needs.

Through this partnership, the EU-based SaaS solution will be based on IBM Enterprise Tape technology and an Atempo software stack hosted and operated by OVHcloud in four new dedicated data centers that are all located in France.

With IBM Enterprise 3592 Tape technology, OVHcloud expects that its new cloud storage offering will be cost efficient, having the potency of maintain data legibility for up to 30 years. The SaaS solution is also expected to require zero energy consumption as compared to hard disks and flash drives.

On the other hand, OVHcloud will use Atempo’s technology platform Miria, to ochestrate IBM’s Enterprise Tape technology. Also, OVHcloud plans to add in-between, the erasure coding 9+3 technology for data protection, allowing smart replication and split of user data.
