EXPANDING ITS PARTNERSHIP AND FOOTPRINT

Internet Exchange (IX) operator, DE-CIX, has announced the establishment of its new Point of Presence (PoP) at Digital Realty’s data center located at 2323 Bryan Street, Dallas, Texas.

The new PoP further represents an expansion of the existing partnership between DE-CIX and Digital Realty which is mainly based on hosting PoPs. Prior to the installation of the latest PoP Switch, Digital Realty’s data centers located at 60 Hudson Street and 111 8th Avenue in New York were two of the original Points of Presence (PoPs) for DE-CIX New York when launched in 2014. Upon DE-CIX expansion to Chicago, the company also selected Digital Realty’s CHI data center at 350 E. Cermak in Chicago as one of its core PoP sites.

“Expanding our relationship with Digital Realty in Dallas, Texas was an easy decision,” said Ed d’Agostino, Vice President and General Manager for DE-CIX North America.

“Now Digital Realty’s large community of networks can directly access the largest neutral IX in the Southwest with turnkey access to DE-CIX New York, the number one IX in that market. It’s been great to work with Digital Realty, a global player who sees the value of establishing an open connectivity community.”

About six months ago, DE-CIX announced a major expansion of its IX platform into the Nordic region. On this expansion, DE-CIX partnered with Bulk Data Centers to house its IX platforms in 3 data center locations including Oslo, Norway (OS-IX); Kristiansand, Norway (Campus N01); as well as in Esbjerg, Denmark (Campus DK01).

DE-CIX also recently announced that is has established strategic partnerships to build connectivity bridges to and within Africa. As part of the DE-CIX as a service program, the company plans to build three interconnection platforms which will be ready for service by the end of 2022. The platforms are expected to be built in Lagos, Nigeria, Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Tripoli in Libya.
