Colocation, interconnection, and managed cloud services provider DataBank, has just announced the opening of its new Tier III data center MSP3, located in Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Delivering the initial phase of MSP3, DataBank announced that the new 86,000 square foot facility provides 1.5MW of critical load power capacity and can scale to 3MW in the first data hall, with the ability to further offer a total of 9MW load capacity across its three data halls in the future.

“DataBank continues to see Minneapolis as a fantastic destination for enterprise and technology workloads. The additional capacity that MSP3 provides makes it an ideal location for hyperscale cloud and webscale application and content providers seeking to build a strong edge presence in the market,” said Raul Martynek, Chief Executive Officer of DataBank.

DataBank purchased the 14 acre site on which MSP3 sits in Brooklyn Park in 2020, and according to the master plan, this DataBank campus can support the development of another 170,000 square feet of data center space and up to an additional 18MW power capacity.

Last month, DataBank announced the acquisition of a 34-acre land in Orangeburg, New York for the development of a new 30MW data center campus. As planned, this property will house DataBank’s New York City metro area’s fifth data center, a campus facility that is planned to span 200,000 square feet with 150,000 square feet of raised floor across five 6MW data halls.

Also in October, DataBank announced the expansion of its KC3 facility in Kansas City, where it plans to establish two new data halls (Hall 2 and Hall 3). This expansion of KC3 facility includes the construction of a 9,300 square foot data center building known as Data Hall 2 and another data center building – Data Hall 3 which spans 8,050 square feet.

As announced, DataBank will host a Grand Opening event of MSP3 on November 10, 2021, and will feature local dignitaries. To register for the event, please visit DataBank’s Minneapolis (MSP3) Grand Opening Tickets, Wed, Nov 10, 2021 at 10:30 AM | Eventbrite.
